„spring/summer 16_green gold“
a publication on the occasion of 20 years of Schmuck2 (1997-2017)

On the occasion of the 20 years Schmuck2 celebration we publish a series of photographs from the project „spring/summer 16_green gold“ by the two German artists Susan Pietzsch and Valentina Seidel at the HOCHsitz/ Glashagen MV (2016).

The picture booklet is accompanied by a textbook including texts by Anne Schloen, Makiko Akiyama and an interview by Benjamin Lignel in conversation with Susan Pietzsch. The new book draws memories and another kind of Schmuck2's 20-year intention to create a picture of contemporary jewellery in our modern society.

With the publication, Schmuck2 would like to thank all participating artists, authors, contributors and supporters that were part of a 20 years long-lasting fruitful process.

_spring/summer 16_green gold

In 2016 the two German artists Susan Pietzsch and Valentina Seidel started their new project „spring/summer 16_green gold“ at the HOCHsitz/ Glashagen MV. For a week the two artists wrapped the HOCHsitz Atelier in golden foil.

A temporary installation and performance that challenges gold both in art and in the context of jewellery. At the same time, however, the work also questioned places for artistic productions and interprets the concept of architecture in interplay with jewellery. Nestled in a place of yearning, for a limited time, the resulting photographic work is the artistic product that is preserved.

„For a brief moment, Valentina Seidel and Susan Pietzsch infiltrated something inexplicable into the realm of reality and created a puzzling space full of poetry in the midst of nature. Fleeting gold.“

(Anne Schloen, LOOK! The alien in the everyday, in „spring/summer 16_green gold“ published by Schmuck2, 2018.)

_future planning

Schmuck2 is currently working on the continuation of the project "PLAY JEWELLERY - WEAR ARCHITECTURE", which deals with the relationship between architecture and jewellery and will be presented in 2019 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus in cooperation with the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt.
